Resource Center
Welcome to the Resource Center!
The Resource Center exists to better connect individuals, businesses, and the community at large to opportunities related to the construction and operation of the Obama Presidential Center. Community members can visit the space to access information related to the project, participate in career development workshops, learn about apprenticeship programs, meet with representatives from Lakeside Alliance and the Obama Foundation, and more.
Diverse Business Enterprise Resources
It’s time to usher in a new, more inclusive era of construction in Chicago. By pledging to award at least 50% of subcontractor packages to diverse businesses, we aim to open doors for the next generation of diverse businesses.
Through the Resource Center, underrepresented business enterprises can get connected to representatives from our operations, procurement, and diversity and inclusion teams in one-on-one meetings. Lakeside Alliance uses the feedback from these sessions to plan workshops designed for entrepreneurs, such as Accounting for Construction Businesses, Micro-Lending Programs, and Small Business Resources.
To schedule your business for a One-On-One with Lakeside Alliance, complete a Vendor Inquiry Form.
Community Partnerships
Lakeside Alliance is dedicated to ensuring that the construction of the Obama Presidential Center has a lasting impact on the community and its residents that extends far beyond the center itself.
Working with several community partners, Lakeside Alliance is ensuring interested individuals are connected to training programs, apprenticeship programs, and construction-related employment and contracting opportunities. We’re working with the We Can Build It consortium — which consists of Chicago Women in Trades, Hire 360, Revolution Workshop and St. Paul Development Ministries — to help create a pipeline of diverse, local talent that can join us on the OPC worksite and other construction projects across Chicago.
“The Lakeside Alliance team was designed to disrupt the ‘business as usual’ model in the construction industry. The team is intentional in the development of programs and processes which create meaningful community engagement. The creation of the Resource Center and how it operates provides a blueprint for any builder dedicated to leaving a community better than they found it.”
— Pamyla Brown, Lakeside Alliance Community & Citizenship Director
